Sorry to be a stranger of late, I’ve been working on a certain embroidery project….all with be revealed in a few weeks…but in the mean time here are some images of the development and inspiration has been: William Morris, Craft and nature…
Drapery, pattern, creases and shadow for my class tomorrow…I do get carried away making example sheets…
Edited, finished 120x150cm Klimt inspired commission.
I was asked to change the hair colour to make it look more like the new owner and so changed the background to black (which makes the characters jump off the canvas in contrast) very happy with the results….
It will be delivered to its new home in Notting Hill this weekend…
Here’s a peep at a Klimt inspired commission I’m currently working on (well this is a plan of the illustration and colour scheme) the actual artwork will be painted on a life-size canvas….excited!
I have so many ideas and avenues I want to explore with my Art this year including…more Klimt inspired nudes/love pieces, a ‘hybrid’ collection, ceramic dolls and trinket boxes and a series of mini paintings/sequences of characters in various settings for an auction in Notting Hill in March…
There just aren’t enough hours in the day at the moment…I want to do it all but keep on being inspired again and again by new things….can only be a good thing!
A little pet cushion commission I completed for a dear friend to give her husband on Christmas Day….featuring beloved doggie pet “Godfrey” to go with the cushion of her gorgeous Persian cat ‘Sooty’.
The ‘Godfrey Dog’ cushion was made using colour and pattern to compliment the vintage floral background of ‘Sooty Cat’….I think they look delightful together….
I’d like to consolidate all of my design ideas (from my present sketchbook) into one large piece to create an eclectic, kitsch ceramic box (like a toy box but to serve as a trinket holder for adults).
The illustrations on the outside will serve as a visual diary which capture everything which inspires me from vintage dolls and florals to kitsch, childlike puppy illustrations.
This keepsake box will be used to hold treasured items of sentimental value, reminiscent of childhood memories and nostalgia….
Just finalising designs for a Wedding invitation commission, playing with font and colours at the moment (I’ll just give you a peep at this one as rather fond of this brown and lace effect)…..
