‘Once, in a Dream’ – transition

Posted on Updated on

Here are some updates on how the first painting from my ‘Once in a Dream’ series is coming along; this piece is proving extremely time consuming due to the intricate detailing and beading onto such a large piece (60×30 inches) though admittedly I’m really enjoying spending this length of time on a single piece and the therapeutic qualities of intricate beading.

I am going to start working on 1 or 2 more pieces for the series over the coming days so they can feed inspiration into each other. Inspired by dreams my next ideas will include elements of surreal landscapes and bizarre animal sequences.

Press release for wallpaper exhibition

Press Release 2- Veronica Rowlands

Here is the Press Release with details of the exhibition, I will be adding to it as we go along, hopefully adding the sponsors and exciting information for the big day.

Farrow & Ball are very kindly donating some beautiful coloured paints to be used onto the wallpaper.

Over the next few days I’ll start creating a series of drawings, I will show a new one daily on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Veronica-Rowlands-Artist/159670667450279?ref=hl and give one away everyday to people who share their cancer stories, with the aim of providing a support network by people whose lives have been affected by cancer.

Interactive Art Exhibition in aid of ‘Breast Cancer Care’ and ‘Beating Bowel Cancer’.

Posted on Updated on

Today I had a highly inspirational meeting with charity ‘Breast Cancer Care’ to discuss the interactive Art event, which I can confirm on will be taking place on 14th September 2013 (12-5pm) at Debut Contemporary Gallery (Notting Hill) http://www.debutcontemporary.com/.

Members of the public of all ages and artistic abilities are invited into the gallery to adorn a character on a piece of wallpaper however they wish (there will be 2 strips, one male and one female), the final art pieces will then be exhibited and auctioned off, with 100% of profits being split between

Beating Bowel Cancer: http://www.beatingbowelcancer.org/

&

Breast Cancer Care:http://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/

Both of these charities are very close to my heart as I lost my beloved Stepfather to Bowel Cancer in 2009; my aim is to create a legacy, in which art brings people together by creating awareness for Cancer research, whereby each individual participant inputs an element of their personality into the project.

If you require further information on the event including interviews, or wish work with us as a sponsor please email: veronica_rowlands@hotmail.co.uk

2 Fashion Dolls find a home…..

I was delighted to sell 2 of my original ‘Surreal Fashion Doll’ paintings at the end of last week.

Both were on display at Debut Contemporary (Notting Hill Gate) and went to different buyers; these first 2 originals to sell were also my very first and last from my ‘Surreal Fashion Doll’ series. I met with the buyer last Tuesday to present her with the Certificate of Authenticity; it was lovely to meet her and know where my lady has gone.

Interactive Art Charity fundraiser in aid of Beating Bowel Cancer and Breast Cancer Care.

I’m in the process of creating an interactive charity art piece in which I will split 100% of the profits between

Breast Cancer Care:http://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/ and

Beating Bowel Cancer: http://www.beatingbowelcancer.org/

I am creating 2 black and white wallpaper designs with a repeat pattern of people on – one male and one female; members of the public can participate in this by coming into Debut Contemporary Gallery (Notting Hill) and adorning one of the characters however they wish. I shall then auction these pieces off splitting 100% in aid of both charities.

‘Breast Cancer Care’ and ‘Beating Bowel Cancer’ are very close to my heart as I lost my stepfather to Bowel Cancer in 2009 and have always wanted to use my art in a way which could help such a worthy cause, as well as raising awareness and creating an interactive piece which a large number of people have come together to leave their own personal mark on.

This event will be held at Debut Contemporary:  http://www.debutcontemporary.com/on a Saturday in September (date to be confirmed).
